The gang’s all here

This was pure spectacle. Ten years ago if you had told me I would see Doctor Strange, Iron Man, Thanos, Gamora, Thor, Spiderman, and Black Panther all together in one big budget live action movie, I would have laughed in your face. Yet here we are. MCU deserves a lot of credit for pulling this off and coming away with a reasonably coherent film with an ending that, while predictable, was an interesting change of pace. Brolin’s Thanos really made the film. Making the villain into the protagonist was a bold choice that paid off. The action is a lot of fun in spite of some poor CGI in bits. The character interactions are entertaining too. Too bad it really was all downhill for Marvel after the next film. This was truly their peak.

No, I am not going to say anything about the recent Amber Heard and Johnny Depp Trial. In fact, going to keep this one super super short:

Aquaman was fine. Didn’t re-invent the wheel or offer many surprises, but I had fun. It did a lot of things really well. The action was a blast. Mera was gorgeous. Both of the villains were compelling. And most importantly, Aquaman himself was a total badass. I think it is safe to say the hero is no longer a punchline. Overall, it is a better version of Black Panther. While the latter had a better hero’s journey and protagonist, Aquaman was much more consistent and better paced. The superior CGI also makes it more rewatchable. After Man of Steel, this is the DC movie universe’s best movie (Wonder Woman is a close third).
