Movie Review: Hobbs and Shaw

It’s what you think it is and that’s okay

I actually watched this movie twice on two long flights between the US and Japan. Let me tell you, this is the perfect airplane movie. It doesn’t ask much of you. It’s two hours of big dumb fun. Fast and Furious movies are basically big budget cartoons. Treat them that way and they make for a nice diversion. The plot is not even worth mentioning. Just know that Idris Elba, Jason Statham, and Dwayne Johnson all get to ham it up and sling one liners like it’s going out of style. It’s surprisingly funny if you’re in a disarmed sort of mood. Lots of amusing if absurd fights and explosions too. Overall, better than I expected.
